Vox Awarded Second Cinema Licence in Saudi Arabia after 2bn Riyal Investment

RIYADH, 23 April (CIC) – Vox Cinema was awarded the second cinema distribution license in Saudi Arabia, as confirmed by Dr. Awwad Al Awwad Minister of Culture and Information and Chairman of the General Commission for Audiovisual Media (GCAM).
Vox is a subsidiary of the Al-Futtaim Group which has pledged to invest 2 billion riyals in the Saudi cinema sector, open 600 screens and create 3,000 jobs over the next five years.
Al-Futtaim Group plans to open its first cinema in the Kingdom in the next few days at the Riyadh Park complex. The site will house four cinema screens including the country’s first IMAX screen and VOX KIDS.
Vox Cinema is the largest film operator in the MENA region and the first regional film company to open in Saudi Arabia.
